i wrote a long reblog to that post about not writing IDs unless you know what you’re talking about and while i was typing it the reblogs got turned off 😩 (i am pro people turning rbs off their posts btw, just annoying that it happened as i was writing a reply)
anyway what i was GOING to say is that while yes, people writing descriptions for their original content is the ideal, it’s unrealistic to expect that describers will never make mistakes. mistakes are human and mistakes can be fixed. the fear of making mistakes in image description keeps a lot of folks from ever trying to write them, which stinks. also, importantly, an image description with an unintentional inaccuracy is WAY better than no description at all.
more people should start describing images online in general and that includes people who are not experts on a thing and will inevitably mess up sometimes.
Sometimes people arenât their best selves to you, and while it hurts, it doesnât mean you did anything wrong. Their actions reflect on them, not you.

Canadian commercial actors say American actors are crossing the border and the picket line in the middle of a major US entertainment industry strike and filling the jobs of Canadian actors who have been locked out for over a year.
Thousands of unionized commercial actors in Canada have been locked out since April 2022 while The Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) has been negotiating with commercial agencies to try and get a fair deal.
Now, as a result of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA actors and WGA writers strikes that have shut down TV and film productions in the United States, some Hollywood actors have travelled north of the border in search of non-union commercial work in Canada.
âOver the last year thereâs been a lot of American commercials shooting up in Canada doing everything non union because they can walk around it,â one ACTRA member who requested to be anonymous told PressProgress. [âŠ]
